| Rodgers may be one of the most improved players on this Wildcat team and will still have trouble cracking the starting lineup. Rodgers’ shot, though still awkward, is more consistent and that could make him a dangerous scorer. When he does not hold onto the ball too long he is a tough matchup. He is strong enough to be effective in the post and the improvement beyond the arc should keep defenders honest.
Rodgers’ greatest asset is his ability to play either guard spot. Rodgers is a true combo-guard and will see time at both backcourt spots. He’s been working on his ball-handling and passing skills and early indications from pick-up seem to indicate that he can handle the point. He still must prove he can run the structured Wildcat offense.
Rodgers is a tremendous on-ball defender. He is very aggressive, sometimes to a fault, and his long arms and great quickness make him tough to get around. If he can avoid picking up silly fouls he could develop into one of the team’s best defensive players.
The Cats will count on Rodgers even more this season due to the loss of post players. With Andre Iguodala expected to see time at power forward, there are more minutes available on the wings. If Rodgers truly has improved as a point guard, then he could see significant minutes this season.
