| Johnny DuRocher is considered by many to be the top-recruiting prospect in the state Washington. He was the first recruit to commit to Oregon giving his verbal agreement to join the Ducks on May 29, 2002. One of the most prolific quarterbacks to ever come out of the state, DuRocher was named First Team All SPSL South as a senior and was distinguished as one of seven “Northwest Nuggets” by The News Tribune. During his three-season career DuRocher threw for 6,781 yards and 67 touchdowns while leading Bethel High School in Spanaway Washington to a 34-5 record and three SPSL South titles. DuRocher is ranked as a national three-Star recruit and 34th quarterback by theInsiders.com. DuRocher has received All-American accolades by both PrepStar and SuperPrep magazine. SuperPrep also ranks DuRocher as the 16th best quarterback in the nation and the number one prospect in the state of Washington in order of athletic and academic excellence. He was also honored as the 2002 state Player of the Year by the Tacoma News Tribune and selected to play in the prestigious U.S. Army All-American Bowl that was held in San Antonio on January 5th. At the May 2002 NorCal Nike Football Camp DuRocher measured 6-4 and weighed 196 pounds. He ran the forty-yard dash on grass in 4.8 seconds and completed a vertical jump of 29.1 inches. Reportedly, DuRocher holds a 3.6 GPA and is fully qualified for college with a 990 SAT score. According to theInsiders.com and other sources, DuRocher also received football scholarship offers from Arizona, Oregon State, Stanford, UCLA and Washington. |
