The Arizona Diamondbacks have agreed in principle to a three-team trade that sends pitchers Max Scherzer and Daniel Schlereth to Detroit for right-handers Edwin Jackson and Ian Kennedy. With Antonio Pierce out for the season and Jonathan Goff making his first NFL start, Michael Boley was the quarterback of the Giants defense during New York's crucial victory over Dallas on Sunday. EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. – Most players try to downplay facing off against their former team and teammates. Michael Boley is obviously not one of them. Boley was basically demoted by the Falcons staff for no apparent reason last season and still hasn’t forgotten about it – or stopped using it as motivation. The Indians purchased the contracts of seven players from their minor-league affiliates today. Left-hander Kelvin De La Cruz from Mahoning Valley, infielder Carlos Rivero, outfielder Nick Weglarz and right-hander Jeanmar Gomez from Akron and infielders Jason Donald and Wes Hodges and first baseman-outfielder Jordan Brown from Columbus were added -- putting Cleveland's roster at the 40-man limit.   Full Story

Andy Marte and Jordan Brown of the Columbus Clippers have been named to the 2009 Topps Triple-A All-Star team. The baseball card company recognized the productive hitting by both players. Marte has yet to fulfill high hopes in multiple opportunities with the Indians. Brown, despite winning the 2009 International League batting crown with a .336 mark, did not get a late-season call to Cleveland.   Full Story
