Bill Wacholz died suddenly on Friday at his home in Rancho Bernardo, Calif. He was 23 years old.
Bill Wacholz
may not be a common name in the house of
Arizona
football fans. He may not be your favorite player and you may not own his jersey.
However, it was not because he was unlikeable. In fact, it may have been the way that the shy lineman wanted it.
Wacholz went along with his business, never once complaining and taking full advantage of his role as a reserve offensive lineman from 2004 to 2008.
On Wednesday, news spread that Wacholz died suddenly Friday at the age of 23. It was shocking for anybody that met Wacholz, as he seemed to be in perfect shape.
Although Wacholz had diabetes, the cause of death is currently unknown and in a way it does not matter.
What does matter is that Wacholz is remembered for being the great person that he was and the realization that for some reason, a member of the Wildcat family went too early.
As Arizona coach Mike Stoops told the Arizona Daily Star,"We're shocked and saddened by news of Bill's death. He was a committed Wildcat and a good student-athlete who worked hard at everything, and did all the right things. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends."
