The Elite 8 in the Desert took place Saturday and here is a breakdown of the 2011 prospects in attendance.
The Elite 8 in the Desert took place Saturday and here is a breakdown of the 2011 prospects in attendance.
Nick Johnson
: We were a bit surprised when he showed up, as he was not scheduled to play. We would have liked to have seen him be more aggressive, as he deferred to
Terrell Stoglin
.
Johnson is definitely more confident in his abilities and we expect that he will be one of the top rated shooting guards in the west based on potential. He has a lot of potential and it will be interesting to see how he progresses towards realizing that.
Martyre Demarco: He is inconsistent, but you are going to hear much more about him this summer. When he is feeling good, Demarco is definitely a good scorer. He plays a smart game, but he is a bit hesitant at times.
The biggest concern that we have is whether or not he can make an impact each game, but that is not a big deal at his age. At this point he is not worth offering, but that could definitely change in the future.
Jahii Carson
: Out of all the players we had previously seen, Carson improved the most. He is not big by any means, but has a very good ability of finding the hoop.
He has strong range and gets to the basket with relative ease. If he can match his performance throughout the summer, we would not be surprised to see
Arizona
make an offer.
Gelaun Wheelwright
: We will hold our opinion until we can see him play point guard. He deferred to Carson, so he was in an uncomfortable position of being off of the ball.
He is definitely athletic, but no more athletic than many of the other athletes that we usually see.
