Nic Grigsby’s career-high 189 yards to go with one touchdown helped lead Arizona to a 59-28 victory over Washington State on Saturday in Pullman. With the win, the Wildcats improved to 6-3 on the season and are now bowl eligible.
Xavier Smith
chipped in on
Arizona
’s lethal rushing attack, scoring two touchdowns along with 40 yards.
Keola Antolin
’s 45 yards and a touchdown also made him a contributor out of the backfield.
Arizona’s lethal running game didn’t stop there, as even
Willie Tuitama
,
Matt Scott
and Mike Thomas scored rare touchdowns with their legs.
The U of A’s lone receiving touchdown was courtesy of
Rob Gronkowski
, who also caught four passes for 83 yards.
After a Tuitama interception,
Washington State
got on the board first with an 18-yad rush. Thomas’ 5-yard rush got Arizona on the scoreboard and Tuitama followed that up with a 43-yard TD to Gronkowski.
WSU quarterback
Kevin Lopina
was able to put together a scoring drive that resulted in him rushing four yards to the end zone, evening the score up at 14.
However, Arizona answered back with four straight touchdowns, with Antolin, Tuitama, Grigsby and Smith all scoring on the ground to make the score 42-14.
Both teams traded touchdowns – and the UA added a
Jason Bondzio
field goal – before the game ended up with a 59-28 score.
