Here are some reasons why the upcoming Cal game is the biggest of the year:
  • If Arizona loses to Cal, all confidence will be shot. Two losses in a row destroys any semblance of change the program has and it will be difficult for the players to believe the message that the coaches are protraying.

  • There will be three official visitors and probably some unofficials. If the UA wins, the chances for a commit for up dramatically. A loss, however, just does the opposite. In fact, there are many more scheduled for the USC game.

If the UA loses to Cal, we would not be surprised to see some plans switched around by recruits, especially since a winning program is much more eppaling than a losing one.

  • Losing = coaching change and it is as simple as that. The more this team loses, the better the chances of a coach, or the entire staff, being let go. Every game is a must win, but every win against a ranked team is worth the most. A loss shows that Arizona is not ready to compete with the big boys and five years later, that is disappointing.

  • The fan support will be very high, but do we expect them to show up if Arizona is losing? It is hard to imagine the fans keeping much faith, especially if Saturday ends badly for the UA.
