Arizona
coach Mike Stoops had an opportunity to talk about Idaho on Monday and here are some notable quotes:
"I like
Trevin Wade
and
Robert Golden
," he said. "I think our two secondary had every bit of athleticism that our one secondary did.
Joseph Perkins
has been playing better and better and that is very pleasing to see. Our young secondary players I thought were really good.
"We obviously played a lot of young kids and were really pleased with the way they performed," Stoops said. "All the kids have really performed quite well. It is starting to help our football team. Any time you can add depth, and not just depth by numbers, and you put depth by quality players, it really puts pressure on people above you to perform."
"I thought our ones obviously took care of business but I thought with our twos that there was not a significant drop off," Stoops said. "To go out there and execute the game plan pretty flawlessly was pretty good. It gives us a lot to look forward to."
"I thought he started to settle down," Stoops said of
Matt Scott
. "His ball handling was not what it should be, which is his strength. He was a little nervous, the snaps were a little off, and the timing with the back was a little off, so our mechanics were not where they needed to be. "I was impressed with the way he threw the football. It was impressive to see his release. He has unique ability and there is not any question about that."
"Matt is our number two guy but Bryson is still a guy we feel awfully good about and we want to keep developing both those guys," Stoops said. "That competition will always be there. Bryson is a fierce competitor and that is good for Matt."
