Recruit may want out Premium Story

Posted May 17, 2008

Lute Olson has been on a whirlwind tour of the East Coast that was to include two graddaughters’ college graduations, some down time with family friends and a visit to an incoming freshman. The visit to the freshman may now be a salvage mission.

Lute Olson was interviewed on 1490’s Happy Hour earlier in the week and spoke about his itinerary, including a visit to power forward recruit Emmanuel Negedu. What Olson neglected to mention, or did not mention at the time was that he was going to have to re-sell Arizona basketball to the young player.

Sources close to Negedu and the Brewster Academy program have said that Negedu is unhappy with the situation at Arizona, specifically the departure of assistant coach Josh Pastner and would like to be released from his letter of intent.

Negedu is a key part of Arizona’s 2008 recruiting class. He’s Scout.com’s 14th rated power forward.

There is no word from the Wildcat program whether or not Olson would grant the release and those close to Negedu did not know just how salvageable the relationship is.
