Hassan Adams had a huge scoring day and Rick Anderson posted a double-double, but it was a guy called “Rudy” who stole the show. Here are some news and notes from the Cats’ win over EA Sports, including a full box score and game photos.

LITTLE SUCCESS
EA Sports Southwest is now 1-6, with their lone win coming against Utah.

SUMMER FUN
The EA Sports travel teams are run by Double Pump Inc. of California. Double Pump also sponsors summer AAU tournaments and summer travel teams, including the team Dennis Latimore played for.

FAST FORWARD
Rick Anderson took and one the opening tip. The Cats scored on the possession and never trailed.

ANKLE WOES
Salim Stoudamire and Luke Walton sat out the game with ankle injuries. Walton is due back as soon as Friday. Chris Dunn was held out in an effort to preserve a possible redshirt. Fil Torres was held out due to a coach’s decision.

RIGHT PLACE, RIGHT TIME
Following his breakaway dunk, Rick Anderson almost came up with a steal when the inbounds pass hit him in the head. A surprised Anderson could not locate the loose ball and an EA Sports player barely beat Will Bynum to the ball to retain possession.

WILL’S THRILL
Bynum provided the night’s best play…on the defensive end! After a Wildcat bucket an EA Sports player beat the Cats back on defense. Jason Gardner and Bynum hustled back but it appeared that they were too late. Gardner was able to slow him up just a bit and the diminutive Bynum swatted the sure basket away with authority.

RUDY! RUDY!
The Arizona student section began a “Rudy, Rudy” chant whenever EA’s 6-0 guard Brett McFall touched the ball. McFall wasn’t fazed by the heckling, at one point he acknowledged the crowd and gave them a thumbs-up when they told him to take all the shots. It was some good advice, McFall was an astounding 9-13 behind the arc on his way to a game-high 29 points.

NO WAITING
Arizona used nine players in the first half, all before the 12:00 mark. The only available scholarship player not to play in the first half was former walk-on Jason Ranne. Ranne entered the game with 1:13 to play in the game.

ALL ADAMS, ALL THE TIME
Hassan Adams opened the second half with Arizona’s first ten points of the half. In fact another Wildcat did not score until a visibly tired Adams was removed from the game for a substitution.
