Cats scrimmage on Saturday

Xavier Smith

Arizona's first open scrimmage of the spring went to the defense. The offense put up 13 points in the 90 or so play scrimmage, it was the other side of the ball who had the advantage.

Willie Tuitama led the Wildcats on three scoring drives, but just one for a touchdown. He was 30-39 for 150 yards.

Xavier Smith scored the lone touchdown on a short run. Filling in for Nicholas Grigsby, Smith led the Cats with 51 yards.

Joseph Reese had 37. Grigsby was not in pads.

Both back-up quarterbacks threw interceptions. Bryson Beirne was intercepted in the end zone by Kyle Monson, while Lyon threw a terrible pass that was hauled in by Brandon Tatum.

The o-line bought the passers time, there was just one sack but there were eight tackles for loss. Xavier Kelley led the team with nine tackles. Sterling Lewis, Ronnie Palmer and Cam Nelson all had six. Recommended Stories
