Arizona went down 28-3, and despite a late comeback, fell to Cal 45-27. The Bears dominated the first quarter and never looked back. Although the Cats were within 11 in the second half, the Bears were able to exert their will over the visitors.

Arizona had another spotty defensive effort. After being stopped on their first drive, they scored on their next three possessions and also scored on a fumble recovery.

Willie Tuitama completed 42-61 passes, for 309 yards. His 42 completions were a school record.
