There are few surprises at
the top as USC and LSU have separated themselves from the field. West
Virginia narrowly edges the Longhorns from Texas for the third spot
while the Wolverines round out the top five.
Defending champion,
Florida, is at six and is followed by
Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Louisville and Virginia
Tech.
Ohio State is at
#11, just one vote ahead of California who
welcomes in #15 Tennessee this Saturday. UCLA is at 13, followed by the Georgia
Bulldogs.
Auburn debuts at #16, becoming the fifth SEC team to be ranked
in the preseason poll. They are
followed by Nebraska, Penn State
and Rutgers.
Rounding out the Top 20 is
Arkansas.
Last season’s Cinderella
story, Boise State, is ranked #21 while Florida State begins the season at #22. A slim six votes behind the Seminoles is
June Jones’ Hawaii Warriors.
TCU and the Aggies from
Texas A&M close out the rankings.
