Scottsdale Athlete Receives First Offer

It was only a matter of time before the state's top athlete received his first scholarship offer. Tyler Porras could be a receiver, corner or safety in college. He pulled in his first offer over the weekend and it came from a Pac Ten school. Porras maintains that Arizona is still showing a lot of attention and will be closely watching his first game this season.

Height: 6-2
Weight: 175
40 time: 4.51
Vertical: 36"
From: Scottsdale, Arizona
High School: Saguaro

The UA coaches will be able to get a great look at Tyler Porras as his first game of the season is in Tucson. Saguaro takes on CDO on September 2nd. "The Arizona coaches told me they could offer after the first game, we'll see," explained Porras. "They are showing me a lot of attention and I am still high on them."

Coach Kish is after him for the Cats.

The school his interest right now is the one that just offered. The Stanford Cardinal came through with a scholarship over the weekend. "We spoke with Stanford on Sunday and they said they have an offer for me. I have to send in my admissions packet, bio, recommendations, and essays they want me to write. I am real excited about the offer. Coach (linebackers coach) Darrell Patterson amd my father (Tom Porras) played in the Canadian league together so they are good friends.

"Stanford likes me as a cornerback. My guess is I'll be a corner at the next level with my body type."

Porras says he'll be a starter at corner and running back for his squad this fall. He'll also play a little safety. His team will be implementing the spread offense this fall so Porras will be lining up at many different spots.

Other schools showing a lot of attention at this point include UTEP, Utah, UNLV, and San Diego State.

The athlete has yet to schedule any official visits.
