Gardner McKay II is as versatile an athlete as there is in Southern California this recruiting cycle. He was highly productive as both a corner and receiver last year for Crenshaw with over a thousand yards on offense and four interceptions on D. Gardner recently received his first offer from a Pac Ten school. The Cats are high on his list with the interest they are showing.

Height: 6-0
Weight: 160
40 time: 4.4
From: Los Angeles, California
High School: Crenshaw

McKay II received his first written offer and phone call from Oregon State. OSU called him on the first night they could this month and the attention they are showing him has put the Beavers in his top six, along with UA, Arizona State, USC, UCLA, and Cal. As for more offers, those could come after his first couple of games. "A few schools have told me they will be watching my first two games and then go from there."

Arizona is a new team on his list since the last time TheInsiders caught up with Gardner.

"I like how the new coach is," said McKay II. "He seems like a real cool guy from what I have seen on TV. He seems like he is hard on his guys and I like my coaches to be hard on me because I thrive off that and it makes me better. Arizona has been showing me more interest lately."

The CB/WR has yet to schedule any visits but plans on doing so in the near future. Most schools have indicated they like him on defense and he is fine with that. Not only would McKay II like to star on the football field in college, he would like to make his way to onto the track if possible. He runs the 100, 200, 4X100, and 4X200. His best 100 time is a 10.8 and his best 200 time is a 22.5.

Gardner is big on education and that looks to be the main thing that will help him decide on a college. "It is not only me that wants the best education, but my parents want that for me, too. It is all 'in the books' for them. They want to see me go somewhere I can earn a top degree at."

Crenshaw's opening game is against Woodland Hills Taft this Friday.
