Palmer is one of the best linebackers in Texas and would solidify a recruiting class that has brought in a host of solid linebacker recruits. Palmer visited on the ninth and has never wavered in his interest in the Wildcats.
Hearing him talk one gets the impression that he is more than just a lean.
"There are a lot of things I love about Arizona," Palmer said. "The environment, the climate, the players, the whole thing was great. The school really fits my needs."
The Cats are still in a fight with Notre Dame and Georgia Tech for his services. Palmer insists that he will make the decision all by himself and he has not set any timetable for making a final decision.
Palmer is a great athlete, in addition to being a fantastic linebacker, Palmer was a quarterback for Spring High School until last spring. He's a bit undersized at this time, he's 6-3, 227, but he has a frame that can hold more weight. Recruiting analysts say he may be able to play defensive end on the college game, but it would be a surprise if he didn't stay at linebacker.
"Most coaches say I'm a great sideline to sideline linebacker," Palmer said. "I may not wrack up all of the tackles but I make big plays on both sides of the field."
Palmer may not be ready to make a commitment, but by talking to him he sure sounds like Arizona is the school. It is safe to say that Arizona is in the driver's seat.
