"Tommie Harris, Derrick Strait, and Tony Cade all came up and were telling me that I was going to play for a hell of a coach. All of his guys really respect him and I am very excited to play for him."
James went on to say what coming to Tucson means to him.
"I am real excited about it. I feel like not many people get the opportunity to second guess their decision so I feel very fortunate to be able to do so."
Alford said this in reference to the fact that he went to West Virginia originally and is now able to come to Tucson after having a change of heart.
He plans on getting to Tucson on the 8th or the 10th of January and upon arrival will start filling up his class slate. He would like to major in Journalism.
Going into his senior year he was to be one of the most heavily recruited linebackers in not only the South, but the entire country. He graced many a summer camp displaying his awesome speed for a linebacker. He ran consistent, high 4.4's everywhere he went. He was ready to have the season of the lifetime and then disaster struck the day before his first game. He tore his PCL prepping for the season opener. He is more than healed now though and says he is coming to Tucson with only one mission; to compete for a starting spot.
The main reasons James says he is coming to Arizona is because of the new staff and the players' renewed attitude.
"I am excited to play for those guys. I wanted to see what kind of coaches I was going to be playing for, first. Second, I just wanted to get a sense of how hungry the players are to win. I want to win and I wanted to make sure I was going to be surrounding myself with people that also wanted to win. I got a good feeling from everyone that that is what they are trying to do."
James signed his scholarship papers with the Cats already but will not sign his letter of intent until February 4th.
