PLAYER OF THE GAME
Clarence Farmer got his first start of the season and rushed for 122 yards. He also had three catches for 32 yards and a score.
ARIZONA PLAY OF THE GAME
Kris Heavner hits Biren Ealy on a 39-yard touchdown pass just before the half. Arizona goes into the locker room up 21-10.
NOT-SO SPECIAL TEAMS
The Wildcats had a tough night on special teams. Arizona place kickers missed a pair of short field goals. Punter Danny Baugher fielded a short snap, avoided a block, but instead of getting the kick off, took off upfield. Baugher gained 10 yards, but needed 12 and the Cats gave up the ball inside their own territory. The Cats let Craig Bragg run back a punt 37 yards before Baugher made an open field tackle. Inside of two minutes to play in the game, the Bruins downed a punt inside the Wildcat one-yard line.
RUNNING WILD
The Wildcats’ 276 yards rushing are their most since the Dick Tomey era. The last time they eclipsed 200 yards as a team was in 2001. Clarence Farmer is the first Wildcat to rush for 100 yards since Mike Bell did it in week one against UTEP. Farmer hadn’t rushed for that much since the Wisconsin game a year ago. Bell just missed the century mark, running for 94 yards.
BAD TIMING
Quarterback Kris Heavner has thrown eight interceptions this season. Five have occurred inside the opponent's 40-yard line, while two others have gone the other way for scores.
STREAKS
The Cats have now lost 13-straight Conference home games and six straight games overall. UCLA is the sixth bowl team in a row that the Cats have faced, but the first unranked opponent since the opener against UTEP. The Bruins have won three straight and five of the last six.
PROTECTION
For the second straight game the Wildcat offense did not surrender a quarterback sack.
NOTABLE QUOTABLE
“You could have driven a semi through some of those holes.” – Wildcat QB Nic Costa on the success of his offensive line.
