University of Arizona football defensive back commit Demetrius Flannigan recently transferred to play his senior season at Marana Mountain View for ex-UA tight end Clarence “Bam” McRae.

Not surprisingly, the 2015 product has high expectations for the coming season.

“We’re all really excited to be out there with the new coach and system,” Flannigan said. “You can just tell that we are going to be doing big things. There are a lot of guys out here working hard and we have coaches pushing us each day.”

It also helps that Flannigan is one of McRae’s most gifted players.

“I would say my best abilities are that I’m able to get up and press the wide receiver, because a lot of the time I’m the bigger one out there," he said.

“When the coaches decided I was good enough, it made a lot of sense to commit. It was my best offer and the hometown school and it’s a place that believed in me.

"I try to imagine myself playing at the University of Arizona and it gets me excited.”

Attending Arizona’s Saturday practice made Flannigan all the more excited.

“Oh, the visit was a lot of fun," he said. "It was great. I got to see how more how a practice goes and just how intense it is. Then you look at the athletes and it was impressive. Everyone was battling out there.

“The thing that also impressed me was how intense but cool Coach Rodriguez is. I mean he’s in everyone’s face out there, but he’s also having a good time.”
