Briscoe in no rush

Isaiah Briscoe

Isaiah Briscoe is taking his time with the recruiting process. Read on to see if he knows what his next step is and more.

Arizona has been looking to add another guard since Tyler Dorsey and the coaching staff parted ways and one target that is being recruited is 6-foot-1, 185-pound Roselle (N.J.) Catholic’s Isaiah Briscoe.

Briscoe is attending the LeBron James Skills Academy and is excited about the fact that he is going against so many highly ranked players.

"The experience is good at these types of things,” Briscoe said. “It allows me to go up against other guards and great players.”

Another experience that also sticks out for Briscoe is playing in the USA Basketball U-18 team, which featured Billy Donovan as the head coach and Sean Miller as an assistant.

There was not any recruiting while in camp, but Briscoe acknowledges that both schools are recruiting him.

"The USA camp was a great experience,” he said. “It was great working for two awesome coaches. I learned they like to get up and down the court.”

That is something not lost on Briscoe, who will be looking at style of play as one of the main factors in his future school..

“I am looking for a school that will let me play my game,” he said. “I want to get in the open court and work off the pick and roll.”

Briscoe has had some success at point guard in the past few months, but says it's not because numerous scouts did not believe he could do it.

“I’m not proving anything,” Briscoe said. “I am just out there playing basketball. The schools recruiting me want me as a point guard though.”

As of now, Briscoe is unsure of the next step in his recruitment.

“I’m not sure when I will take visits or which schools I will visit,” he said. “There’s no timeline for anything right now.”
