Arizona advances with win over Weber State

It was not pretty by any means, but Arizona defeated Weber State to advance to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. Read on for a complete recap of 68-59 the win.

Arizona may have had its poor moments, but it did not matter much as Arizona defeated Weber State 68-59 to advance to the third round of the NCAA Tournament.

Joel Bolomboy made two free-throws and then scored in the post to put Weber State up 4-0. Davion Berry then proceeded to make a three and WSU grabbed a 7-0 lead with 15:46 left in the first half.

Gabe York finally put Arizona on the board before Richaud Gittens made a three. York answered with a three of his own and Aaron Gordon got a funk to bring Arizona within 10-7 with 13:04 remaining in the half.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson scored consecutive baskets, but Kyle Tresnak made a jumper. A three by York then put Arizona up 14-12. Tarczewski scored, but Jordan Richardson picked up a three-point play. Gordon was able to get a bucket off a rebound and Tarczewski made two free-throws to put the UA up 20-15 with 7:43 left in the half.

Johnson and Holiis-Jefferson scored before Bolomboy made a free-throw. Johnson then made a three and Elliott Pitts scored on the glass. Berry made two from the line and Gordon then scored. Bolomboy followed with another bucket and Gordon made one of two free-throws to put Arizona up 32-20 at the half.

Tresnak made a free-throw to start the half and Gordon responded with a basket. Berry and Johnson then exchanged three-pointers to keep Arizona's lead at 13. Tarczewski scored and Jeremy Senglin got on the board with a three as a layup by Johnson gave Arizona a 41-27 lead with 15:01 remaining in regulation.

Hollis-Jefferson made two free-throws and Tarczewski followed with a basket. After a shot by Bolomboy, a three by Johnson gave the UA a 48-29 lead.

Hollis-Jefferson scored and Gittens made a free-throw before Hollis-Jefferson made one of his own. Gittens and Gordon then exchanged baskets and Gittens scored four more consecutive points. After two free-throws by Berry, Gordon made a three to put Arizona back up 56-38 with 8:25 remaining in regulation.

Berry made two more free-throws and Hollis-Jefferson scored on a dunk. Bolomboy made two free-throws and Berry and Gittens added two of their own. Tarczewski then scored, but Berry made a three and came back with two more free-throws. A three by Johnson then put Arizona up 63-51 with 3:43 left in regulation.

Berry proceeded to bank a three in about a minute later to cut the Arizona lead down to nine. A layup by Gordon then pushed it back to 11 with a little over a minute left, but Berry scored soon after.

York got to the line and made one of two free-throws, but a three by Richardson cut the Arizona lead to seven.

Johnson went to the line and made both to seal the game for the Wildcats. Recommended Stories
