Wildcats' offense falters on road

Arizona lost to Oregon 64-57 on Saturday. Read on for a complete recap of the loss.

Arizona's offense struggled and Oregon hit its threes, as the Wildcats lost 64-57 on the road Saturday.

Waverly Austin scored, but Kaleb Tarczewski did the same. Aaron Gordon then scored and Nick Johnson hit a three in transition before Tarczewski scored to force a timeout and put the Wildcats up 9-2. Johnathan Loyd got on the board and Elgin Cook followed.

Rondae Jefferson then scored and T.J. McConnell hit a jumper after a bucket by Mike Moser. Tarczewski proceeded to make one of two from the line to give Arizona the 14-8 lead with 11:49 left in the first half.

Gordon made a shot and Johnson scored two consecutive buckets, as a three by Loyd stopped the run. Gordon then hit a jumper and Joseph Young made a three. Jason Calliste made one of two free-throws and Cook also made one of his two.

Tarczewski and Young exchanged baskets before Tarczewski scored again. Loyd made two free-throws and Elliott Pitts responded with a layup. Damyean Dotson got to the line and made both of his attempts to cut the Arizona lead to 28-22 with just under five minutes left in the half.

Tarczewski made a free-throw as Loyd came back with a layup. Gordon got to the line and made both of his attempts to bring the lead back up to seven. Ben Carter then got to the free-throw line and made both before Calliste hit a three as the half expired to cut Arizona's lead to 31-29 at halftime.

Gordon scored to start the half and also hit a free-throw before Moser made a shot. Tarczewski then scored, but Moser hit a three before Gordon put it in off an offensive rebound, as Arizona led 38-34 with just under 16 minutes left.

Loyd got in the lane and scored off the glass, but McConnell and Johnson scored before another layup in transition by McConnell forced a timeout with the Wildcats up 44-36. However, the Ducks came back with three-pointers from Moser and Calliste to pull within three with 10:43 left.

Gordon scored and soon after hit two free-throws, as a three by Calliste put Arizona's lead at 48-45. Johnson made two free-throws, but a three by Young and shot by Loyd tied the game at 50 with five minutes remaining.

Gordon got to the line and made one, but a three-point play by Calliste gave the Ducks their first lead since 2-0. Calliste then made a three out of a timeout to put the Ducks up 56-51. Loyd made a three soon after to force an Arizona timeout and extend the lead to eight with 2:32 left.

McConnell made a three, but Carter scored off an offensive rebound. Gordon then got a three-point play, but the Wildcats could not get anything going as it lost its third game of the season.
