Arizona hangs on at Oregon State

Arizona defeated Oregon State 74-69 on Wednesday. Read on for the complete recap of the Wildcats' victory.

Arizona has struggled in the past at Oregon State and Wednesday was no different.

However, the Wildcats were able to overcome some struggled and defeated the Beavers 74-69.

Aaron Gordon started the game with a jumper before Nick Johnson made a three. A dunk by Kaleb Tarczewski then forced a timeout with Arizona up 7-0 only a few minutes in. Oregon State got on the board with a three-point play by Devon Collier and a three by Roberto Nelson brought the Beavers within one.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson scored his first points of the game as Angus Brandt made two free-throws. Hallice Cooke then scored, but Johnson made a three. Collier and Tarczewski proceeded to exchange a pair of free-throws each to keep Arizona's lead at 14-12 with 11:59 left in the half.

Malcolm Duvivier and Nelson scored before Gabe York made a three from the corner. After two free-throws from Johnson, Duvivier scored against. Tarczewski and Johnson then got consecutive hoops to put Arizona up 23-18.

Brandt scored and Hollis-Jefferson made one of two from the line. Johnson then made a shot and Nelson made two free-throws. A three by York and dunk by Johnson caused the Beavers to call timeout with Arizona up 31-22 with a little under four minutes left in the first half.

Olaf Schaftenaar made a three and Collier made a shot to cut into Arizona's lead and bring it down to four. Nelson made two more free-throws before Gordon scored close to the basket and another shot by Nelson cut Arizona's lead to two. A three by York and two free-throws by Nelson put it at 36-33 in favor of Arizona at the half.

Tarczewski and Gordon scored to start the half, but the Beavers responded with a bucket from Brandt and three-point play from Nelson. Soon after, Nelson scored off an offensive rebound, but Johnson hit a three from the corner to put the Wildcats up three.

Cooke made a three from the corner and after a free-throw by Gordon made another, as the Beavers took a 46-44 lead with just over 15 minutes left.

Johnson and Collier exchanged hoops before Tarczewski made two free-throws. Daniel Gomis then got on the board, but Johnson made a free-throw and Hollis-Jefferson scored. Collier went one of two from the line, as a McConnell hoop put Arizona up 53-51 with 11:18 left in regulation.

Gordon got one of two from the line and Hollis-Jefferson scored, as Johnson added a bucket. Collier then scored to end a 10-0 run and Nelson made a three to force Arizona to call a timeout. Moreland and McConnell then exchanged baskets as Arizona held its two point lead.

Duvivier and Tarczewski made a free-throw each before Collier scored and Nelson made one of three from the line. York then made a three and a shot by Moreland tied the game at 64 with 4:16 left in regulation.

A layup by Hollis-Jefferson gave Arizona the lead and a free-throw by Tarczewski extended it to three. Hollis-Jefferson then made four consecutive free-throws to put Arizona up seven and the rest played out at the line.
