Arizona blows out California

Arizona blew out California 87-59 on Wednesday night. Read on for a complete recap of the win

Arizona's offense clicked for the second game in a row and California never had a chance, as the Wildcats won 87-59 at home on Wednesday night.

Justin Cobbs scored first, as Kaleb Tarczewski came back and scored. Richard Solomon and David Kravish got consecutive bucket and Solomon added another before T.J. McConnell scored and brought the Wildcats within 8-4 with 15:31 left in the half.

Elliott Pitts made a three out of a timeout and Solomon responded with a basket. Aaron Gordon and Nick Johnson proceeded to score before Tyrone Wallace got a bucket. McConnell and Justin Cobbs shared jumpers and Rondae Jefferson scored to give Arizona the 15-14 lead with 11:35 remaining in the half.

Tarczewski made two free-throws and Arizona forced a turnover that led to a dunk by Johnson, followed by another that was capped off by a dunk from Gordon, forcing Cal to take a timeout down 21-14.

Johnson made a free-throw as Jordan Matthews responded with a three. Johnson and Matthews then exchanged shots, but Gabe York came back with a three. Ricky Kreklow proceeded to hit his own three and a jumper by Tarczewski gave Arizona a 29-22 lead with 7:20 left in the first half.

Solomon went one of two from the line before Hollis-Jefferson got a lob off an inbounds. Johnson and Tarczewski then scored to force yet another Cal timeout less than three minutes after the previous one, as Arizona led 35-23.

Hollis-Jefferson got another dunk and then hit two free-throws soon after. Sam Singer got a bucket off a turnover, but McConnell hit a quick jumper. Jabari Bird made a jumper and Johnson hit a three before Bird scored again to cut the Arizona lead to 44-29 going into the half.

Tarczewski and Gordon scored to start the half, as Cobbs did the same. Johnson then hit a three and after a bucket by Wallace, Tarczewski scored to force a Cal timeout with Arizona up 53-33 only a few minutes into the second half.

Kravish made a free-throw and after a three by Kreklow, Kravish scored two straight baskets to force an Arizona timeout.

Out of the timeout, Cobbs came up with a three-point play. Tarczewski then scored and Wallace hit a three. However, Tarczewski proceeded to score again and a jumper by McConnell put Arizona up 59-47 with 10:42 left in regulation.

Johnson and McConnell scored, but Cobbs got a three-point play. Gordon proceeded to make two free-throws, as Bird scored soon after. McConnell then hit a three and Gordon got a dunk to force a Cal timeout with the Wildcats up 70-52 with 7:14 left.

During the timeout, Cobbs and the Cal bench were assessed technical fouls and Johnson made three out of the four free-throws to put Arizona up 21.

Johnson made two free-throws and Bird made one, followed by one from Gordon. After a bucket from Wallace, Hollis-Jefferson made a shot and two free-throws to put Arizona up 80-55 with less than four minutes left.
