Arizona demolishes Colorado

Arizona demolished Colorado on Saturday night. Read on for a complete recap of the 88-61 win.

Arizona may have been the slight favorite against Colorado on Saturday, but not many people could have seen this coming.

The Wildcats shot 84 percent in the second half and dominated Colorado in every facet as it won 88-61 at Colorado.

Nick Johnson scored the first bucket and Dustin Thomas made a free-throw. T.J. McConnell made a three and Kaleb Tarczewski had a three-point play. After two free-throws by Xavier Talton, Johnson and McConnell made consecutive baskets before another by Johnson put Arizona up 14-3 with 14:39 left in the half.

Jordin Mayes found Elliott Pitts for a three before Wesley Gordon made two free-throws. Rondae Jefferson proceeded to hit a jumper to put Arizona up 19-5. Nick Johnson made a shot and Tarczewski went to the line and made one of two. Jaron Hopkins responded with a three and Josh Scott made two free-throws to cut the Arizona lead to 22-10 with 7:58 remaining.

Gordon got a dunk, but Eli Stalzer came back and scored. After a basket by Tarczewski, Stalker made two free-throws, Scott made two, and Xavier Johnson added one. A layup by Scott forced a timeout by Arizona with the Buffs only trailing 26-21 with just under five minutes left in the first half.

Hollis-Jefferson and McConnell made consecutive shots, but Scott made one of his own. Nick Johnson got to the line out of a timeout, but only made one. Booker proceeded to make a jumper at the buzzer and Arizona went into the half up 31-25.

Scott hit the first basket of the half, but Tarczewski and Talton then traded before Nick Johnson hit a jumper to keep the lead at 35-29. Booker got a layup, but Gordon came back and scored. Thomas then made a layup on Gordon, as Gordon proceeded to make a three from the corner and get a layup to put Arizona up 42-33 with 16:30 left.

Scott made two free-throws before Tarczewski made one. After a shot by Booker, Nick Johnson made a three. Xavier Johnson made two free-throws and York made a three-pointer. Nick and Xavier Johnson exchanged hoops before a dunk by Aaron Gordon put Arizona up 53-41 with 11:54 remaining.

After two free-throws by McConnell, Gordon and Johnson scored. Booker hit a jumper, but Pitts made a three and a dunk by Tarczewski forced a timeout with Arizona up 64-43. Booker made two free-throws, but Gordon came back with a three-point play. After a bucket by Wesley Gordon, Aaron Gordon made a three.

Tarczewski and Thomas exchanged baskets, as a layup by Gordon had Arizona controlling the Buffs 76-49 with just under four minutes left in regulation.

Scott made two free-throws and Aaron Gordon made a basket before two more from Scott. After a free-throw from York, Jordin Mayes made a jumper. Soon after, Jacob Hazzard would add five more points as everything went right for Arizona. Recommended Stories
