Saturday's Red and Blue Game was not as much about the end result as much as it was about the overall performance.

The Red defeated the Blue 44-39, but there were plenty of impressive performances to go around.

Brandon Ashley started the scoring for the Blue with an easy layup, but Kaleb Tarczewski scored on the other end shortly after. Tarczewski hit two free throws to put the Red up two, but Rondae Hollis-Jefferson tied it with a dunk off a turnover.

Jefferson proceeded to hit a pull-up jumper to put the Blue up 6-4 before a three-pointer by Nick Johnson took the lead back for the Red. Off a rebound, Gordon dribbled the length of the court and hit Tarczewski for two and the Red led 9-6 with 6:50 left in the 12 minute half.

Tarczewski made one of two free-throws out of the timeout and Hollis-Jefferson responded with two of his own to bring the Blue within 10-8 before Ashley tied the game with a layup. Ashley scored again at about the four minute mark to give Blue the lead going into a timeout.

Korcheck extended the lead with his first bucket of the game, but Tarczewski scored the next time down court to keep the Blue lead at two. Nick Johnson tied the game with two free-throws, yet Ashley scored off a rebound to get the Blue the lead back. Elliott Pitts scored his first points of the game at the free-throw line and a basket by Hollis-Jefferson gave Blue the 18-16 lead at the half.

McConnell opened up the second half for the Blue with his first points of the day, but Aaron Gordon responded with his first as well. Hollis-Jefferson then scored and Tarczewski hit two from the line before Ashley hit a three-pointer. Two free-throws by Gordon cut the Blue lead to 25-22 with 9:28 left in the second half.

Tarczewski and Hollis-Jefferson exchanged baskets before Gordon scored and Gabe York answered with a three for the Blue. Another bucket by Gordon kept the Blue's lead at 30-28 with a little under seven minutes to go.

Gordon and Hollis-Jefferson once again exchanged baskets before Tarczewski hit one of two free-throws to pull red within 32-31 with 4:30 left in the second half. After an exchange of baskets, Ashley hit a three-point play to put the Blue up 37-33 with a little over two minutes left.

A three-pointer by Pitts cut that lead to one and Gordon made it a two-point lead before a basket by Tarczewski extended the red lead to 40-37.

Hollis-Jefferson scored to cut the lead to one. Johnson proceeded to make one of two from the line and then added a dunk to give the Red the 44-39 victory.
