Cook getting closer

Murrieta (Calif.) Vista Murrieta 2014 linebacker Tyler Cook wants to take some more visits and then make a decision. Read on to see where Arizona stands, his timeline, and more.

Murrieta (Calif.) Vista Murrieta 2014 linebacker Tyler Cook has been recruited by some of the better schools in the country for quite some time, and while Cook is focusing on his recruitment, there isn't one school he will name as his leader.

"I don't want to name a group or firm list of teams, because I haven't taken all my visits, so it wouldn't be fair to name any finalists," Cook said. "I plan on narrowing my list later this summer after I take all my visits."

As of now, Arizona is in solid shape to receive one of those visits.

"UA is under consideration," Cook said. "They talk with me quite a bit. They want me to get down there and check out the new facilities, and they have talked to me a lot about their defense and they think I can get on the field."

Cook is going into his visits with a rough idea of the qualities he wants in a prospective school.

"I'm looking for a place where I can come in and make a quick impact and a coaching staff that has a history of producing solid defenders," Cook said. "My dream is to play in the NFL one day, so that will definitely factor into my decision."

In addition, Cook wants to get to know the coaching staffs recruiting him and is still in the process of doing so.

"Team atmosphere and interaction with the coaches will also play a factor," he said. "That is why I don't want to name a final list yet, because there is a lot of stuff I don't know yet."

July is shaping up to be an important month for the linebacker.

"The next month or so I'm going to take my visits and I will decide on a school," Cook said. "I want to get to as many schools as possible and hopefully I can decide before my senior season starts."
