Arizona blows out rival

Arizona easily defeated Arizona State on Saturday, as it won 73-58. Read on for a complete recap of how it all went down.

Arizona played one of its most complete games of the season as it defeated rival Arizona State 73-58 Saturday at McKale.

Jordan Bachynski started the scoring, but Kaleb Tarczewski responded with a basket. After a three-pointer by Jahii Carson, Mark Lyons made two free-throws to make it 5-4 in favor of the Sun Devils. Kevin Parrom and Nick Johnson then hit consecutive three-pointers and a basket by Tarczewski forced herb Sendek to take timeout.

Out of the timeout, Carson hit a three, Evan Gordon made a basket, and Carrick Felix scored as well. Tarczewski and Johnson responded with consecutive hoops and Arizona led 16-12 with 12:39 left in the first half.

A few minutes later, Felix made a three to cut Arizona's lead to one. However, Jerrett was able to get into the paint and score before Johnson picked up a steal and converted to put the Wildcats up five with about 9:36 left in the first half. Felix was able to one of two free-throws the next time down court, but Lyons hit a three from the corner to put Arizona up 23-16 with 7:53 left.

Bachynski scored out of a timeout, but Parrom was able to make a three-pointer the next time down court. Hill proceeded to make a three of his own off an offensive rebound by Arizona and ASU took timeout down 29-18 with 5:42 left. Carson picked up a hoop after the timeout and although Hill matched it, Felix got a three-point play to cut Arizona's lead to 31-23 with 3:06 left in the half.

Ashley was able to score a basket, but Carson got it back at the free-throw line. After a Johnson free-throw, Ashley made two of his own. Jordin Mayes hit a three soon after and picked up a steal in which he was also fouled. His free-throw put Arizona up 40-25 at the half.

Bachynski and Tarczewski exchanged baskets to start the hald and Felix proceeded to hit one of two free-throws before Johnson picked up a dunk. Felix then responded with a three-point play to put ASU within 44-32 with 17:26 left in regulation. Colvin scored shortly after to cut the lead to ten and Sean Miller was forced to take timeout.

Ashley scored out of the timeout, but Felix hit a three-pointer soon after to keep the Arizona lead at 10. Parrom made two free-throws the next time down court, but Felix knocked down two free-throws. Carson then proceeded to get to the basket easily to bring the Sun Devils within eight and force an Arizona timeout.

The scoring stalled for a bit before Jonathan Gilling hit a three from the corner to put the Sun Devils within five with about 11 minutes left. However, Hill made two free-throws the next time down court before Colvin scored to keep the Arizona lead at five. A three by Johnson put the lead at eight and then made two free-throws as Arizona went up ten with 9:36 left. A layup by Johnson then put Arizona up 12 and forced ASU to call timeout.

Bachynski and Mayes exchanged baskets before Carson made one of two free-throws. Hill was soon able to pick up a three-point play to put the Wildcats up 62-48 with 6:57 left, as he then added two more free-throws to extend the lead. Tarczewski also made one of two free-throws, as Arizona led 65-48 with 6:35 left.

Felix and Parrom exchanged baskets before Parrom was able to get a three-point play off a turnover to put Arizona up 70-50 with a little over four minutes left.
