Simmons: Quick Hits

Here are some notes on some of the best in the south. New offers are out, new favorites, and more.

  • Kalvarez Bessent is one of the hottest prospects in the south. The 6-foot corner out of Kingsland (Ga.) Camden County has added offers from Florida State, Mississippi State, and Tennessee on Monday. He already had offers from Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, and others.

  • If Bessent isn't the hottest prospect in the south, it may be offensive lineman Jordan Sims out of Homewood, Ala. The 6-foot-4, 330 pound interior OL picked up offers from Georgia and Oklahoma on Monday. Alabama offered him last week and he now has double-digit offers. Things have really picked up for Sims over the past two weeks.

  • Elijah Hood is one of the top running backs in the country and the 6-foot-1, 215 pound power back visited Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Michigan Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and he named Notre Dame as his leader on Monday. Michigan is number two on his list followed by Ohio State at three. He plans to commit later this summer.

  • Stephenson (Ga.) athlete Dallas Rivers was offered by Louisville on Monday. Most schools like Rivers as a running back, but he could play linebacker too.

  • California is the latest school to offer big offensive lineman Jake Sanders out of Carrollton, Ga. They offered him on Monday. UCF offered Sanders over the weekend and he also has an offer from Mississippi State.

  • Alabama became the first school to offer Scout300 Tyler Harris a scholarship on Saturday and it didn't take long for him to get offer number two. John Hevesy from Mississippi State offered him on Monday.

  • Louisville has offered Jacksonville (Fla.) Sandalwood wide receiver Desean Blair. The state of Florida is loaded with receivers in the 2014 class and Blair is a top 10 guy at that position.

  • An offensive tackle out of South Carolina is seeing his recruitment pick up and he picked up an offer from Georgia on Monday. Nolan Kellerher recently added an offer from Florida over the weekend. He is a 6-foot-5, 310 pound tackle out of Wando High School.

  • Notre Dame offered 2015 athlete George Campbell out of East Lake in Florida. He is a versatile athlete that can do so many things. He has around a dozen scholarship offers and he is only a sophomore. He could play a number of positions on the next level.
