Mama excited by Cal offer

OL Damien Mama

Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco will have an absolutely loaded class in 2014 and the player getting the most college attention right now is offensive lineman Damien Mama.

Damien Mama played opposite USC signee Nico Falah last season and had a dominant year. He's not as polished or athletic as Falah but is more bigger, more physical and plays with a nasty streak.

Mama has seen his recruitment pick up in the last month and is nearing double digit scholarship offers.

"California is the latest school to offer me, they just offered last night," Mama said. "Cal is a big offer and I'm very excited about it. I have a lot of interest in Cal and I'm going to try and get out there for a visit in the spring or summer if I can.

"I talked with Coach Yenzer, the new OL coach and he's the one who offered me. He seemed like a good guy and I'm excited to learn more about the Cal program. I know it's a great academic school and that will play a big role in my decision."

Mama said he'll take a few other visits over the spring/summer period but is still figuring out where.

"I know for sure I'll camp with USC and Arizona State," Mama said. "I'll do a couple more but I'm not sure where yet. I'm also going to the NIKE Camp March 10 and I'm definitely looking forward to that."

In addition to the Bears, Mama has offers from Colorado, Utah, BYU, Arizona, Fresno State and Oregon State.
