Anae to BYU

Arizona offensive line coach Robert Anae appears to be headed back to BYU to take its offensive coordinator job. Read on to take a closer look at his career, possible replacements, and more.

WildcatAuthority.com has confirmed numerous Friday morning reports that say that Robert Anae is headed back to BYU to be offensive coordinator.

Anae is currently in Provo, Utah for interviews and the general belief is that everything from there on out is basically a formality.

Robert Anae joined the Arizona staff in January 2011 and was re-hired by Rich Rodriguez in December 2012 as UA's offensive line coach. However, his previous history with BYU and ability to have more control lured him back to Provo.

Anae was offensive coordinator and inside receivers coach at BYU from 2005-10 and he actually left the BYU staff on his own accord, despite being offered an opportunity to stay by Bronco Mendenhall.

It will be interesting to see where Rich Rodriguez turns to a replacement. The first name that will likely come up is Greg Frey, who has not only worked with Rodriguez, but was on South Florida's staff and Indiana's with other Arizona assistants.

Sources say that while Frey's name will be heavily mentioned, he is not a guarantee for the job. Due to the nature of the opening, it seems that there will be plenty of demand for it. Sources say that when Spencer Leftwich left, Rodriguez got a ton of calls from throughout the country before naming Charlie Ragle his replacement.

Considering this job will likely get more attention, Rodriguez will have an ability to hire a big-name coach. Stay tuned to WildcatAuthority.com for names of potential replacements and more.
