Jayhawks Prepare To Welcome Old Friend

Several days off can be just what the doctor ordered and for Kansas and head coach Bill Self, it's something to focus on, as the Jayhawks wait until Saturday before playing another game, when they host former Big 12 and current Pac 12 member Colorado at Allen Fieldhouse.

The game will be the first for Kansas in eight days since beating Oregon State at Kansas City's Sprint Center.

The game will be the first in Allen Fieldhouse since Kansas beat San Jose State 12 days ago.

The Buffaloes will come to Lawrence ready to see if they are as good as advertised, a year after coach Tad Boyle took them to the NCAA Tournament after winning the Pac 12 tournament.

In his third year in Boulder, the former Jayhawk player has the Buffaloes humming along at 7-1 after starting 6-0.

"I think this is the best team Tad's had since he's been there," Self said at his weekly press conference Thursday.

Self also talked about how Colorado's guards are a year older and said forward Andre Roberson has emerged as one of the best at his position in the country.

The series will bring back memories for fans and will especially do so next year, when the Hawks travel to Boulder. The home and home with CU is for them.

"This is such a good game for fans that can't see us play in Allen Fieldhouse that lived in the western part of the state." Self said. "Primarily, we did it for our fans that live in Western Kansas and the Denver area."

For those wondering if there will be any bad blood between former conference foes, Self put that to bed immediately.

"I have no ill will at all towards Colorado. They left the league because they had to. I mean with the league potentially breaking up, they had to jump and take what was available."

If anything, the game and series will be one between friends in Self and Boyle. Self said he speaks to Boyle often, usually texting him after games.
