Following a win at the Chicago Elite Classic in which Brown scored 28 points, he was happy with how things went and is ready for the season to really get going.
"It was great," said Brown of the win. "Obviously last year I had a completely different role than I did last year. It is good for me to step out and take this team to win and be the leader which is something I hadn't done before."
It is obvious that Brown has gotten more athletic and stronger in the last year. Aside from that he is also focused on improving his total game.
"My game has grown tremendously," Brown explained. "I have worked hard in the weight room and on the court. I am trying to improve my mid-range game. My dad always tells me that all the great ones are able to score from all three levels, get to the rim, the three ball, and in the mid-range with the pull up jump shot. I have mostly been working on my pull up jump shot and fine tuning my three. Also I have been working to get stronger and faster."
Recruiting wise there are two schools that have clearly asserted themselves at the top of Brown's list.
"I have interest from some schools but my two main schools are Butler and Saint Mary's," said Brown. "Those are the only two schools I look at as being in the picture right now."
With Butler it comes down to his relationship with Head Coach Brad Stevens.
"I love Coach Stevens and he is a great coach," said Brown of Butler. "The good thing about them is he is the one who started recruiting me. When the head coach is recruiting you that is a good sign. They produce NBA players and they always win when people don't think that they should. Also I think the system they run fits me well."
Brown and Saint Mary's Head Coach Randy Bennett also have a strong and longstanding relationship.
"Saint Mary's has a great coach and my dad and his family go back a long time, so the loyalty is obviously there," said Brown of the Gaels. "Also it is a good location and my parents like it a lot. I feel comfortable and I like the guys on the team. It could be a good fit right now."
For now there is no timetable and he plans to simply play out the season before making any kind of final decision.
"I am just going to play out the season and see what comes in and then I will evaluate my situation," said Brown. "I will just continue to play my game and see what happens."
