Brandon Ashley got the start and scored the first points of the game with two from the free-throw line. Kyle Richardson answered for the 49ers and Ashley then got a three-point play and jumper before a lob from Mark Lyons to Nick Johnson forced Long Beach State to call timeout down 9-2 three minutes into the game. Solomon Hill added two free throws before Peter Pappageorge hit a three-pointer. Kaleb Tarczewski then hit a basket, but a Kris Gulley three-pointer made it 13-8 with over 15 minutes left.
Coming out of the media timeout, Tarczewski hit one of two free-throws before Pappageorge made two from the line. Kevin Parrom hit a three-pointer and Ashley added two free-throws to give the Wildcats the 19-10 lead. Gulley hit a three-pointer to cut it to six, but Parrom hit his second of the game to bring it right back to nine. A three-pointer by Grant Jerrett gave Arizona the double-digit lead and two free-throws by Hill extended the lead to 27-13 with 12:07 left.
Deng Deng cut the lead to 11 with a three-pointer and Jordin Mayes came back with a jumper for his first points of the night. Johnson then got a steal and easy dunk to force the 49ers to call timeout down 31-16 with 10:29 left. Johnson added a layup two minutes later and a layup by Mayes gave Arizona the 35-16 lead with about eight minutes left in the half.
Coming out of a timeout, Ashley took a lob from Mayes to give Arizona its biggest lead of the night, but Deng hit one of two free-throws to end the Arizona run. Tarczewski then took an entry pass from Hill and was able to score off an offensive rebound, but the 49ers answered with a three-pointer from James Ennis. A three-pointer by Pappageorge then forced Sean Miller to call timeout with Arizona's lead at 39-23 with 5:58 remaining.
Ennis scored coming out of the timeout and Gulley was able to get a dunk off a turnover as Miller took his second timeout in under a minute. Down 12, Johnson was able to get to the free-throw line and make one of two free-throws to bring Arizona's lead to 40-27 with four minutes left in the half. Dan Jennings hit two free-throws for the 49ers, but Parrom was able to extend Arizona's lead with a three-pointer.
Jennings then scored on a layup and a free-throw by Gulley cut Arizona's lead to 43-32 with about two minutes left in the half. A layup by Johnson put the lead right back at 13 before Jennings came right back with an answer. Johnson answered right back with a three-pointer, but Pappageorge responded with one of his own. Mark Lyons proceeded to score his first points of the game and the Wildcats went into the half up 50-37.
Hill started the second half scoring with two free-throws, but Ennis got two of his own from the line. Hill then added a three-pointer from the corner to put the Wildcats up 54-39. Hill hit two free-throws shortly after, but a dunk by Ennis was the answer. Jerrett then got a dunk of his own, but Gulley hit a three-pointer to cut the Arizona lead to 14. Lyons then hit a free-throw, but a basket by Ennis made it 59-46 with 15:38 left.
A layup by Ashley extended the lead to 15 and a three-pointer by Parrom made it 64-46 with 14:30 left. Hill then went the length of the court for a layup and a foul, as the free-throw gave the Wildcats a commanding 21-point lead. Jennings tried to get something going for LBSU with a basket in the paint, but a layup by Mayes out of a timeout put the lead back at 21.
Tarczewski got to the line shortly after and made one of two free-throws before LBSU got one at the line as well. Once again, Arizona was able to get to the line and two free-throws by Ashley extended the lead to 22 before Lyons hit one from the line as well.
A layup by Ashley gave the Wildcats a 75-50 lead and then he added a free-throw to extend the lead again before a layup by Angelo Chol made it 78-50. Ashley then scored his 20th point of the game before LBSU went on a little run to cut the lead to 82-60 with 4:20 left in regulation. The run did not do much, however, as Parrom hit another three-pointer to put Arizona up 87-63.
