The 6-foot-4, 180-pound athlete took an unofficial visit to Arizona on Wednesday and came away with an offer from Sean Miller.
"It feels really good," Hopkins said. "They have been recruiting me since freshman year in high school, so we have a past and it means a lot.
"I was at Arizona for most of the day and I got to see how it was and watch the players work out, which was intense."
Hopkins had an opportunity to sit down with the Arizona coaching staff and get a better feel for what his role at Arizona would be.
"I talked to coach Miller for the most part and Whitford has been recruiting me as well," Hopkins said. "Miller told me I am multi-positional, so I could play the one or the two.
"I would also be able to score if I played the one because I am athletic enough and Miller told me he could see me posting up as well and fitting in with their style of play."
Arizona is definitely not the only school Hopkins is hearing from and he says he realizes that he will eventually have to narrow his list before taking the next step in his recruitment.
"Besides Arizona, I am hearing the most from Washington State, Colorado, UCLA, and I recently have heard from Kansas, Stanford, and Penn as well," Hopkins said.
"I am definitely going to have to narrow it down to a top seven by the end of the AAU season and I plan to make an official decision at probably the start of the high school season."
As Hopkins looks at all of his options, he has a pretty good idea of what will play the largest role in the decision that he makes.
"I think the most important thing is getting a good degree, so I can prepare for after college and being able to start a life," he said.
