Defensive back will look closely at UA

Devin Holiday

Arizona has targeted corner back Devin Holiday and he is very interested. Read on for his thoughts on Arizona, his overall recruitment, and more.

Any Pac-12 school hoping to compete at the highest level must make its recruiting presence felt in Southern California. Some of the best players in UA history are Southern California natives, and new coach Rich Rodriguez will try to continue the legacy.

2013 Mission Hills (Calif.) corner back Devin Holiday is one of the Southern California high school stars the new staff is recruiting.

"I really like Arizona," Holiday said. "When they offered me I was surprised, but it really showed the coaches had watched me. They've been on me early, along with Hawaii.

"Those are the only two offers I have right now. Both of those schools are good programs and it feels great they want me to play for their schools."

Arizona's coaching staff has made a solid impression on Holiday.

"The coaches are really cool," Holiday said. "They want me to be a press corner/nickel back type who really hounds receivers. I feel that really fits into my skill set because I like to play physical and really challenge receivers at the line.

"The defensive backs are expected to be solid tacklers and cover guys. They play a fast-paced defense where the defensive backs are expected to make plays and I feel I fit in that type of system."

While Holiday doesn't plan on making a decision anytime soon, he can see himself playing at UA.

"I want to wait until after my senior season," Holiday said. "I like a lot of west coast schools and want to continue to work this summer and focus on my senior year and the recruitment will take care of itself.

"Arizona is a school that I will look closely at. It's a Pac-12 school with a good coaching staff that will bring in good players and isn't that far from home."
