Arizona offers defensive end

Dylan Cozens

Arizona went on the road to recruit on Tuesday and decided to offer an in-state defensive end. Read on for an update on the offer, including a timeline, visit plans, and more.

Arizona's coaching staff may not be complete, but that has not stopped it from hitting the road and recruiting.

The staff spent much of Tuesday in Phoenix and visited Scottsdale Chaparral in order to extend an offer to 6-foot-5, 235-pound defensive end Dylan Cozens.

"I was offered by Arizona and Tony Dews on Tuesday," Cozens said. "I found out about it when I was at school today and it was definitely a surprise. I was not expecting it at all. I am happy about it."

The conversation was brief, but Cozens is expecting a phone call from Dews in order to learn more about Arizona's program.

"We did not really talk about how I would fit in the program or anything like that," Cozens said. "He mentioned that he would call me later and tell me more about the program and what they want to do."

Arizona is definitely not the only school recruiting Cozens, as he holds offers from numerous schools throughout the country.

"I am looking at Boise State, Missouri, Utah, Washington, Indiana, and Arkansas," he said. "All of those schools have offered, but I don't have any favorites right now."

In terms of what Cozens is looking for, it really is not anything complicated. When it comes down to making a decision, Cozens wants to find the best fit.

"I am looking for a school that has a good football program I can see myself being at for the next four years with good coaches and the ability to develop me," he said.

Cozens has already visited numerous schools and an official to Arizona could be in the works for the future.

"I already visited Boise State and Missouri and will be at Washington this weekend," he said. "I will be visiting Utah on January 13 and I may use an official on Arizona."

As far as a decision goes, Cozens is not sure of when he will be ending the recruiting process.

"I do not have a specific timeline when I want to make a decision," he said. "There is a chance that I would make a decision before all of my visits; it is possible."
