Tarczewski excited to end journey

Kaleb Tarczewski

Kaleb Tarczewski's recruitment has been one of twists and turns and now it is officially over. Read on for Kaleb's thoughts on his recruitment, future at Arizona, and more.

When Kaleb Tarczewski signs on the dotted line with Arizona, it will bring to an end one of the most back and forth recruitments in recent memory. But by going with UA over Kansas, the nation's eighth ranked player has found peace in his college choice.

"It's been a long journey and I'm really excited about where it's taking me," Tarczewski said. "I feel really comfortable with the situation I'm in right now, so I'm feeling really good about everything."

It came down to the wire, but in the end, the Wildcats won out over the Jayhawks for the nation's fifth ranked center due in large part to the chances that await Tarczewski in Tucson.

"I knew Arizona was the school for me around a few weeks ago," Tarczewski said. "I knew Kansas and Arizona were great schools, but after my visits I sat down with my family and we talked it out and we just decided we were comfortable with Arizona and we thought it would be the best opportunity for me."

With one of the nation's fastest rising coaches in Sean Miller and the country's top recruiting class for 2012, Tarczewski sees a bright future for himself and the program in the years to come.

"I'm really excited to play for coach Miller, he's a great guy," Tarczewski said. "I really like him as a person as well as a coach. Watching their practice while I was down there was a great experience, so I'm really excited to get going and to make myself a better player.

"All of the other 2012 guys were down there on my visit, so we all hung out and we all had a great time. I really think that we have the making to a foundation of a wonderful team.

"I'm really excited to get down and get working with them. I know we have really good relationships off the court, but I think on the court, hopefully with what coach Miller has this year and what's coming in next year, we'll be able to do some special things."

Under coach Miller and with his future teammates, Tarczewski sees vast potential to meet both his individual and team goals that he has begun to set for his first year in Tucson.

"My goals are just to become a better basketball player, have fun, and live the college life," Tarczewski said. "I want to hopefully get a degree and see where things take me. I'm not trying to set too many goals right now, I'm just trying to go day-to-day.

"Obviously I think we have the potential to hopefully make a run at a National Championship, I think that's every kid's dream. Hopefully we can do that, but I don't want to jinx it or anything."
