Preseason look at the top DBs in Arizona shows a very deep and talented group
Safety taking his time
"It's been good," Hoffpauir said. "I talked to coach Stoops a couple of weeks ago and talked about how their season is going to be and how the team is looking and stuff like that."
Hoffpauir has been collecting plenty of offers, but hasn't created a list of favorites and would like to experience a few more campuses before he does.
"Not as of now," Hoffpauir said. "I might like some schools more than the others, but right now I am not sure how much I like a school to say that I have a top five. I would like to see a couple more schools before I start breaking my list down, but for now I like all of the schools that have offered me."
Hoffpauir has proven to be one of the better defensive back prospects in Arizona. When he chooses a school, he wants one that allows him to roam around in the secondary.
"If I am playing a position, I would like to be able to move around a lot," Hoffpauir said. "Sometimes play in the box; Other times play deep safety. I would just like to go somewhere where I fit the mold."
Football is obviously the focus of many high school recruits, but there are always other factors involved as Hoffpauir points out.
"Education, location and the weather is kind of a big deal for me too," Hoffpauir said. "And I'd like to be somewhere where my parents can see me play."
The safety from Peoria will undoubtedly take visits at some point before he makes a decision, but for now, he is unsure where exactly.
"I'm not really sure where I want to visit yet," Hoffpauir said. "I am not sure what my top five are, but I did want to take some visits in the future."
There are several months to go before Hoffpauir must decide where he will play college football. He doesn't have much of a timetable right now and he will decide when he finds the right fit.
"It doesn't matter to me," Hoffpauir said. "I just want to make sure I am absolutely comfortable with my decision and make sure that's the right place for me to go. So, really, the timing isn't a big deal for me. I would like to do it a little sooner – maybe early in the season – but I don't know, that's kind of how I am right now."
Being a resident of Arizona could help the cause of the schools that are in-state, but that certainly doesn't mean he is shutting out the schools outside of Arizona.
"I like both in-state schools and I like some out of state schools," Hoffpauir said. "It doesn't matter to me really if I went in-state or out of state.
