Arizona looking at quarterback

Arizona looking at quarterback

Arizona is looking to land a quarterback in the 2012 class and one potential target is Danville (Calif.) Monte Vista signal caller Jeff Lockie.

Danville (Calif.) Monte Vista quarterback Jeff Lockie is still waiting for his first offer.

However, he is hearing from plenty of schools and that first offer could certainly come sooner than later. After all, as a junior he was 167 for 275 for 2,449 yards, while throwing for 32 touchdowns and rushing for six touchdowns as well.

"Recruiting is going well right now," Lockie said. "I went to Oregon on March 10 for its Pro Day and Cal on March 5 for its junior day. I also plan on visiting Northwestern and Arizona down the line."

Lockie has already talked to a coach at Arizona and expects to hear from the Wildcats throughout his recruiting process.

"Jeff Hammerschmidt is recruiting me at Arizona," Lockie said. "We talked a few weeks ago and he has been at our school before.

"He knows my head coach because he played at Arizona, so they also talk once in a while about everything going on."

Lockie may still be waiting for an offer, but he has a good idea of what he will be looking for in a school once he does get one.

"I am looking for a school with good education because that will be a big factor," he said.

"Location will also play a role along with the coaching staff and what the program stands for."

In terms of why schools are recruiting Lockie, he has a good idea of what he excels at as well as what he would like to improve.

"I would say my strength is my athletic ability and game instincts and would pick to work in the weight room and get stronger," he said.

Lockie has a good idea of when he would like to make a decision, but is unsure if the recruiting process will allow him to do what he wants.

"In an ideal world I would like to make a decision before my senior season," Lockie said.

"I am not sure if I will be able to do that though, so whatever happens, happens."
