Arizona
head coach Mike Stoops met with the media on Monday and had plenty to say about his team’s strong effort against Washington this past Saturday.
"I thought it was one of our most complete games of the year," Stoops said. "To see that type of balance I thought was critical for our success long term. Also, to start to get some more balance in the run game to take some pressure off our offensive line and it takes pressure off the quarterback as well.”
Scott may have been the best player on the field Saturday and that is something that Stoops says is not surprising in the slightest.
"Matt's performance did not really shock a lot of us," he said. "Matt has practiced well and prepared well, so when we see him every day we know what kind of ability he has. Being able to translate it to the field, I thought he did a great job for not playing in a month or so."
As strong as Scott’s performance was, it has not guaranteed him another shot against UCLA.
"We won't know anything on
Nick Foles
," Stoops said. "He continues to improve. A lot has to be determined. Nick is mending as planned. His status for this game is questionable at this point.
"I think as we move through the week we will know better what our options are but we are going to leave all our options open and we certainly do not want to tip our hand what we are doing offensively."
